Our aims are to increase public awareness and appreciation of cathedral music, encourage high standards in choral and organ music and raise money for choirs in need.
In the light of the current and escalating crisis regarding COVID-19, Friends of Cathedral Music has made the difficult but necessary decision to postpone all gatherings and other events scheduled to take place before the end of July 2020. Our Annual General Meeting, scheduled for Saturday 13 June, will also be postponed.
As you are undoubtedly aware, the situation is having a significant impact on choral foundations and cathedral music, with all Church of England public services suspended until further notice.
Our thoughts are with the musicians in all choral foundations at this time. Your exceptional music making will be greatly missed in the coming months, and we appreciate how difficult things are for you all. We at FCM intend to do all we can to support you in the times ahead.
We understand that these are highly uncertain times but invite our friends and supporters to consider ways they can help our much-valued cathedral musicians weather this storm and come out the other side singing.
We at FCM are still ‘open for business’ in a virtual capacity, and will be doing what we can to protect and nourish cathedral music through our website and social media platforms.
