Donate to the Cathedral Choirs’ Emergency Fund

The Friends of Cathedral Music and the Ouseley Church Music Trust have launched the Cathedral Choirs Emergency Fund to support choirs silenced during the COVID-19 national lockdown

We need to make sure they return to the musical excellence for which they are renowned throughout the world. It has become clear that this will only happen with significant additional funds.

The Cathedral Choirs Emergency Fund aims to raise £1 million and make grants to cathedral choirs in need. Both FCM and OCMT have committed to making initial contributions of £250,000 each towards the target.

We will work together and with other charities to raise funds to provide financial assistance as the response to this crisis unfolds. Our aim is to ensure that choirs can remain together and return to their normal high standards of performance once the buildings are opened again.

Please donate to help secure the future of this valued tradition.

A message from The Duchess of Gloucester:

With cathedrals falling silent across the country, my thoughts are with those involved in church music at this challenging time.

As Patron of the Friends of Cathedral Music’s Diamond Fund for Choristers, I recognise what an important role cathedral choirs, choral foundations and sacred music play in people’s lives. Choirs are facing unprecedented challenges; however, the ability to sustain, strengthen and overcome is the lifeblood of the cathedral music tradition. It is therefore heartening to hear of the work of the Cathedral Choirs’ Emergency Fund, which will help to ensure this tradition continues to thrive.

I send you all my warmest wishes and, like you, look forward to a time when cathedrals are filled with music once more.
