Applying for the Tony Harvey Award

The Tony Harvey Award is a grant of between £500 and £600 to help support a male choral scholar at an English cathedral.  FCM makes one award annually.

Who may apply?

Any male choral scholar in financial need at an English cathedral may apply, with the support of the Director of Music.

When do I apply?

The deadline for applications is 30 June, with the award commencing in the following academic year.

How do I apply?

Applications must be submitted using FCM’s online Tony Harvey Award Application Form, which can be accessed from the button at the bottom of this form.  You will receive an acknowledgement of your application, so please contact us if you have submitted an application and not received a response.  All correspondence should be made through the Grants Secretary.

Alongside your application form, FCM requires a letter of recommendation from the cathedral’s Director of Music.  You will be able to upload a digital copy of this letter when completing the online application form.

When will I hear if my application has been successful?

You will hear the outcome of your application within a month of the closing date.

How do I acknowledge my grant?

We ask cathedrals to acknowledge a grant via their website.

How does FCM monitor the impact of my grant?

FCM will request a short report explaining what is being achieved with the grant.  If FCM considers that an award is not being used for its intended purpose, or if the organisation fails to supply requested information or comply with the conditions of the grant, FCM reserves the right to request repayment of the grant.
