An exciting opportunity for cathedral and church choristers
A free one-day workshop for the Cathedral Choristers of Britain with Dominic Ellis-Peckham and Suzzie Vango
Saturday 20 October 2018, Birmingham Cathedral
Following the Cathedral Choristers of Britain’s concert in St Paul’s Cathedral (to launch Friends of Cathedral Music’s Diamond Fund for Choristers) and their subsequent CD recording, we have been looking into ways of building on their success.
We are delighted to announce that we have secured the services of two excellent choral directors, Dominic Ellis-Peckham (Assistant Director of the National Youth Choir Great Britain) and Suzzie Vango (National Children’s Choir of Great Britain, Ex-Cathedra Girls’ Academy), to lead a free one-day workshop and informal performance for choristers in Birmingham.
The workshop will be delivered without notated music and there is no advance preparation required for the event. This will give choristers the chance to experience some different musical styles and ways of learning.
The workshop will take place on Saturday 20th October 2018 at St Philip’s Cathedral, Colmore Row, Birmingham, B3 2QB from 10:30am to 4:30pm, with an informal concert at 5pm.
An application form can be downloaded here. Choristers of any UK Choral Foundation are welcome to apply. Places are available on a first-come-first-served basis. We would welcome directors and music educators who would like to come and observe.
Applications can be emailed to FCM General Administrator, Cathy Dew (firstname.lastname@example.org) and you are welcome to contact her for more information.
Applications for financial help may be made where there is difficulty in meeting travel costs to Birmingham.
