A Year at Tewkesbury
Regent REGCD 474
Tewkesbury Abbey Schola Cantorum directed by Simon Bell
This eighth disc in the series ‘A Year at’ contains a fine selection of works covering the liturgical year from Advent to the Feast of Christ the King. The music ranges from Thomas Tallis In ieiunio et fletu (Ash Wednesday) to Charles Wood Nunc Dimittis in B flat (Candlemas), Bruckner Tota pulchra es (Annunciation), Bairstow Sing ye to the Lord (Easter), Walton Antiphon (Ascension), Elgar Give unto the Lord (Trinity), Bairstow I sat down under His shadow (Corpus Christi), Stanford Benedictus in C (St John Baptist), John Tavener Funeral Ikos (All Souls) and many other works. This is a fine recording that demonstrates the high standard of singing of the choir throughout the year.
