Nowell Sing We!  Advent and Christmas at New College   Novum NCR 1390

Choir of New College, Oxford directed by Robert Quinney

Nowell, Sing We! is the second recording from Robert Quinney in his position as Organist and Tutorial Fellow of the choir of New College, Oxford. It follows the path of the last weeks of the Michaelmas term at New College. The open format of a carol service allows for a wide variety in the choice of music, so long as none of the pieces is longer than a few minutes. This collection embraces traditional carols, counter-Reformation composers through the twentieth century, and an interesting selection of carols to delight all tastes sung beautifully by this outstanding choir. A York Yuletide   Regent REGCD 467

The Choir of York Minster directed by Robert Sharpe

In this programme the choir of York Minster offers a feast of mostly 20th century and contemporary English music including the four major carols by Herbert Howells, Ralph Vaughan-Williams’ Fantasia on Christmas Carols and Richard Shephard’s hilarious new arrangement of Jingle Bells. The programme opens with the splendidly rhythmic Ding! Dong! merrily on high in the great arrangement by Mack Wilberg. The selection includes recent new carols by Matthew Martin, Stephen Jackson, Francis Pott and Grayston Ives. Available from:
